The lead was short-lived though, as Larry Doby homered in the 9th to tie the game followed by a two-run Nellie Fox single to win it. Mays, who replaced Robinson after the 4th inning, singled and scored on an 8th inning home run by Gus Bell to give the NL a 9-8 lead. Robinson is pictured below taking batting practice. Kluszewski then scored on a Jackie Robinson double in the five-run frame, and came back with a two-run homer in the 5th. Musial got his second hit of the game in the 4th inning and scored following a hit by Kluszewski. All three had big performances in the game, but the National League ultimately lost to the American League 11-9.
